Your journal says: “I just don’t know what to do anymore. Every day feels like a constant battle. Externally, I’m juggling what my parents expect from me, what my friends assume, what “having it together” is supposed to look like by now. Internally, I’m still trying to figure out who I actually am, not who I’m performing for everyone else. It feels so hard to say any of this out loud, hard to take a real step towards the life I think I want, harder still to have any confidence in myself.
I feel suffocated and lonely, even though I’m constantly surrounded by people. Anxiety creeps in with every big decision and before most social interactions. Some days, the weight of it all makes it feel pointless to even try. I keep thinking about saying all of this to someone who isn’t tangled up in it, who could really hear me and understand.”
Hi, I’m Zeenie and I’m so happy you’re here.
As a biracial (Pakistani + white), Muslim woman, I understand the nuances and challenges of navigating multiple identities, and the strength and beauty of belonging to diverse communities. I love working with young adults and adults navigating life transitions and exploring identity related to family, culture, faith, gender, and sexuality. I particularly enjoy working with those from South Asian and Muslim communities, as well as first-generation Americans and children of immigrants. Many of my clients also carry anxiety, depression, or trauma alongside these struggles, and I seek to honor you as a whole person, rather than just addressing symptoms on the surface.
Therapy with me is laid-back, authentic, compassionate, and transparent. I always welcome your insights and feedback as we work to build a relationship anchored in trust and mutual respect. My hope is that therapy is a space where we can not only discuss difficulties, but also find meaning, joy, and connection, allowing you to make room for and honor the many parts of yourself. Decolonial and liberation-focused work is incredibly important to me, which means that we center your cultural values, history, and community as sources of understanding and healing. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you in this next part of your journey.
Does insurance cover the cost of therapy sessions?
I work with clients with Husky/Medicaid, and will soon be in network with Anthem, United/Optum, and Aetna. I also offer a self-selecting sliding scale. I practice in our Manchester CT office on Thursdays, and offer teletherapy.
